About Hagastaden

A new, dynamic district

Adjacent to the historic buildings of Vasastan, a new district has emerged, linking Stockholm with Solna. Hagastaden is a modern extension of Stockholm’s inner city.

Hagastaden is full of contrasts—past, present, and future. It features spectacular, experimental, sustainable, and urban architecture. Here, the old stone city meets modern high-rises. The international metropolitan feel blends with Stockholm’s classic industrial buildings, creating striking contrasts found nowhere else in the city. The buildings are both taller and denser than in other areas, and Stockholm’s skyline has been transformed by the impressive Norra Tornen at Torsplan, forming a new gateway to the city.

Construction began in 2010 and is expected to be largely completed by 2030. With 50,000 workplaces, 6,000 homes, numerous innovations, research breakthroughs, and international influences, Hagastaden will continue to evolve well into the future. Even today, it is a vibrant area for those who live, work, and operate businesses here, as well as for visitors.
